X Files
We don’t have to go very far away from our own doorstep to discover our own x-files. Scotland is steeped with stories of monsters, hauntings and paranormal activities. From the UFO hotspot at the Falkirk triangle to the hauntings of Mary Kings close Scotland has never been such as hive of Spooky activity. So if you want to know our very own X- Files read on.
UFO’S
Normally when you think of UFO’s the mind conjures up wee green men and flying saucers. We also don’t think about them on our own back yard but there is a definite activity here in Scotland. You don’t have to go out too far from Glasgow to see our very own UFO ‘hotspot’. The area is called the Falkirk triangle and spans from Stirling to the West of Fife. The incidents started of in January 1992 when Mr James Walker witnessed a cross-shaped formation of stars hovering above the road that he was travelling along. When he turned back to see the lights they were now in a triangle formation which totally mystified him. The best known incident in this hot spot happened in the March of that year. It was around 7pm when the Slogget family was taking a stroll towards Bonnybridge. The father of the family saw a circle of light, which he pointed to. The rest of the family looked at disbelief as the light landed in a nearby field. The family ran away in terror as a door opened on the object and they appeared to be photographed. That night many eyewitnesses saw this object as it parked in the field. These types of activity have been seen in the same area even up to the present day. The Falkirk triangle is still being investigated by the ministry of defence but of course this is behind closed doors. Up until the day they reveal what is going on here it will remain a truly Scottish Mystery.
GHOST’S
Since I was a baby I have seen unexplained things. Such as ghost’s, apparitions and in some cases seen things moved about by a poltergeist. Even sometimes I can be going about my business when I see something floating past or just ahead of me. In most cases this can not be explained. I remember when I was first involved in readings a lady came to me for help with a problem she had. As soon as she sat down in front of me I saw a young boy standing behind her. He was about 10 with fair hair and very pale. I read her as well as I could then I mentioned that I could see a boat subsiding. I asked her if this had any significance and she started to cry. She explained that 10 years previous to this she had been at Strathclyde Park when her young cousin and herself decided to go out on a rowing boat. It had capsized half way out and he had drowned. She was saved by a stroke of luck. I tried to console her as much as I could and she left. The spirit of the wee boy followed like a puppy that had lost it’s mum. I prayed that he would soon find peace, which I hoped he would. There are many haunted houses in Scotland none more meet the criteria than Ballechin House which is in Perthshire. It was first owned by a Major Stewart who did believe in an after life. After his death his nephew who found it too uncomfortable to live in due to its noises and wails during the night inherited the house. People from the local village would not go near it of a night as they had a fear of its presence. It was rented out in 1892 to a Catholic Priest who had a party of Nuns with him. That first night there none of the party slept as they heard bangs and screams all night long. They left that day cutting their stay. This is just an example of the many types of hauntings which occur all around our country. So if you here a bump in the night it might not be easily explained.
LEYLINES
When I first moved into my premises in Motherwell I noticed that every time I entered my therapy/reading room I could feel an acute energy which ran up the centre of the room. I spoke to a friend of mine who came for a visit and he told me that the centre of the room had ley lines running through it. Seemingly this was good, as it would help me physically during my readings. When I looked into the subject further I discovered that Scotland is reputed to be criss-crossed by ancient ley-lines. Dowsing using metal rods can show were these lines occurring. Even using a pendulum such as I do can show how a ley line can cross sect an area. When I did this in my therapy room it went nuts. The energy provided by ley-lines can have a startling effect as they did in Craigpark School in Ayr at the beginning of the 1990’s. Staff and pupils became continually ill. There was no obvious factor which was causing this apart from the fact it was newly built and that it pupils had special needs. It was closed down as specialists could only fathom that it had sick building syndrome. It wasn’t until a panel of dowsers came to investigate that the building was built on an intersection of a number of powerful ley-lines. Our ancestors were more in tune with they’re environment and would never have built on such strong energy forces. Stones circles, which are found all over our country are always built on ley lines. This was probably so that they could generate positive energy for the people of that time.
The ley effect is found all over Scotland. This includes Glasgow in which the ley-lines are in the shape of a star. Glasgow Cathedral stands plop in the middle. I hope that this positive effect continues in my premises for the time being.
CROP CIRCLES
Crop circles have been a phenomenon for many centuries within farming communities. Over the past 15 years Scotland has seen its pile of real and hoax circles. Scotland’s first confirmed crop circle was found in June 1990 just outside Blairgowrie. It was in a field owned by the Ardblair estate. There were two circles, which were in the region of 70 feet in diameter. When the area was investigated it was found that very strong energies could be found. The formation of crop circles in such a short time can be explained partly by underground energy channels, which come to the surface causing the characteristic swirls. To date the best-recorded crop circle was that found in August 1995 at Corpach, near Fort William? It was found in an area of grass and reeds away from any roads. It was also discovered by chance which would also lead to dismiss that it was done by hoaxers for a publicity stunt. There was no natural cause found by investigators however it could have been formed by a paranormal source. For example by UFO’s being active in the area at the time for landing purposes. Till this day they’re real purpose has not been discovered.
THE BRAHAN SEER
I remember when I was a little girl my gran telling me of a special man who lived in the Highlands. He had the gift of second sight and as she explained it he could make special announcements. It wasn’t until years later that I discovered that this was true when I had read all about him. There have been many seers in the highlands over the centuries, but no one as famous as Coinneach Odhar . He was commonly known as the Brahan seer. His prophecies are so well known that they have become part of Scottish folk history.
He lived between the 16th and 17th century although his exact birth date can not be confirmed. He predicted the abdication of Edward VIII, who abdicated in 1936 before his coronation. The highland clearances were also seen by him as was many of his people going to far off lands such as the States. He was also known to have predicted the sinking of the Isle of Lewis and a ferry disaster on a crossing from Ullapool to Stornaway. As yet these have not happened yet and hopefully they won’t as prophecy is always a warning of what could happen if not intercepted. Brahan seer was from Uig in Lewis but he settled in Easter Ross at Brahan. He used a stone to see a but like my own bones, and was good at predicting the destruction of numerous lairds. This included an ill visit to the Seaforth Estate where he was executed for prophecies he told. He threw his stone into a Loch so that no one else could ever predict the future. I am just glad I don’t have to be scared of being executed these days!
